Well, my softball season is over with as of last night. No, not because we played our last game. Last night was a two game night. We had a game at 7pm (which we lost) and later we had a game at 9pm. Our opponent didn’t show for the 9pm game, so we won by forfeit. Then most of us decided that we needed to have batting practice because we had hit so poorly in the 7pm game. So we split up into two teams adding a few kids from the “crowd” and began to play a practice game, with about 7 on a side. I hit the ball pretty well and was trying things while pitching, all in all a good thing. Then, one of the guys hit a line drive and…
I tried to catch it with my forehead. Well, not quite true, I did TRY to get my glove up and it did graze my glove as it went by, but I was simply too slow. Here’s the damage:

Two hours and eight stitches inside (that will dissolve in time) and 16 stitches outside later I got to go home with no pain medication, only antibiotic.
A BIG thanks to Randy for driving me to the emergency room and then driving my car home after KC got there. Thanks to Eric for stopping by the emergency room and checking on me. And thanks to the people who gave me towels at the park so I could contain the bleeding (head wounds tend to bleed more than wounds elsewhere). And thanks to my teammates for getting me off the ball diamond to my car with all my “stuff”. And Josh: this was MY fault, I’m the one who didn’t get the glove up in time to catch the ball — Keep hitting like that!!
« Close it up, dude!
