ZoNation

Oh – My – God! This guy is hilarious! He not only says it like it is but says it in an entertaining way! I found this one on Hot Air, and simply HAVE to re-post it here:

Plugins

Oh, yeah! Got the Foxy Tunes plugin installed and working now – not sure why it didn’t work before and I never really investigated it. Now I can add the “listening to” part of the signature to my posts. It pulls the info from Winamp (my music player of choice) and adds it and a link to the song on Foxy Tunes. Gotta love it!

Also, I got rid of the WordPress ALinks plugin. It was slowing down the render time of my blog and of the admin panels of my blog. Plus, the plugin hadn’t had any updates for quite a while and it was showing its age (due to the noticeable slowness). The biggest reason I decided to drop it was that the web site is no longer functional. So I found a different plugin that did the same thing: Automatic SEO Links. It does basically the same thing as ALinks but is MUCH smaller. The web pages seem to render effortlessly, much faster than before.

Unbelievable

No, not the tune from EMF. It’s the weather that’s unbelievable. I thought we were all going to die because of global warming; well at least that’s the BS pushed by “reputable scientists”. Of course, looking outside at the SNOW and ICE and SLEET on the 28th of March, I think it’s a bit silly to take anything that “reputable scientists” have said as anything but pure conjecture at best and bald-faced LIES at worst.

What Next?

Oh, my God! I can’t believe we’ve got a President that stoops so low. Check out this story: Obama berates AIG and vows to try to block bonuses. Now I’m against greed and reckless spending. But I’m not necessarily against these AIG guys from getting their bonuses. Here’s why: it’s in the contracts they signed and these contracts were all signed before the government decided the HAD to bail out AIG.

And a word on the government bail out. I think it was the wrong thing to do. Period. We have laws in place to handle bankruptcy. Since when does the government decide who gets bailed out and who doesn’t? Some companies have to obey the law and others don’t? I know three companies that manufacture items specifically for the company I work for that have closed their doors this year due to the economy. Why didn’t they get bailed out? Why did AIG get bailed out? GM? Chrysler? Freddie Mac? Fannie Mae? None was guaranteed directly (it is arguable that they were implicitly guaranteed) by the federal government.

Meanwhile, back to Obama. I can’t believe he’d say something like that. (Well, maybe I can) If the contracts say that bonuses must be awarded by contract, then there’s nothing that the government can do about it. If they tried to stop the bonuses, they are leaving themselves open to lawsuits… and the execs getting the bonuses would win. Not only would they get their salaries and their bonuses but they’d also get some kind of penalty that guess who would pay (no, it isn’t the government – they don’t make money, they only spend it by taxing US). Of course, you know it is US (as well as our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren) that are paying for the bail outs in the first place.

So I guess it’s one of three things (and in any event he’s not being honest with us):

a) Obama is truly naive and believes he CAN prevent the execs at AIG from getting their contractual obligations (the bonuses).
b) Obama is pulling a publicity stunt to make Joe and Jane Taxpayer feel good, knowing he can’t do anything about it.
c) Obama is trying to shame the execs into returning their contractual obligations from the company.

Miss This Guy?

One of the greatest… here’s a few quotes:

  • Here’s my strategy on the Cold War: We win, they lose.
  • The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.
  • The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.
  • Of the four wars in my lifetime, none came about because the U.S. was too strong.
  • I have wondered at times about what the Ten Commandments would have looked like if Moses had run them through the U.S. Congress.
  • The taxpayer: That’s someone who works for the federal government but doesn’t have to take the civil service examination.
  • Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other.
  • The nearest thing to eternal life we will ever see on this earth is a government program.
  • It has been said that politics is the second oldest profession. I have learned that it bears a striking resemblance to the first.
  • Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it’
  • Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed, there are many rewards; if you disgrace yourself, you can always write a book.
  • No arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is as formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.
  • If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under.

We could sure use a strong sensible leader like him, instead of the guy we’ve got now who labels everything a crisis and tells us we need to pass legislation NOW. He was the second greatest US President of my lifetime and the greatest of my adult life. Ronaldus Maximus (as Rush calls him): Ronald Wilson Reagan.
(Thanks, Ron!)

Another Letter from the Boss

Letter from the Boss,

As the CEO of this business that employees 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way due to the “Stimulus Package” that Barack Obama, our President, has pushed through to law. To compensate for these increases I figure that our clients will have to see an increase in our fees to them of about 8% but since we cannot increase our fees right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off at least six of our employees instead. This has really been eating at me for a while as we believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who will have to go.

So, this is what I did: I strolled through our parking lot and found 8 Obama bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them. If you have a better idea, let me know.

Sincerely,
The Boss
(Thanks, Ron!)
