The Youth Vote

Saw this one on Hot Air, and I have to say that I agree with the guy. Plus, he’s entertaining in his delivery.

There’s Cold…

It's COLD!And then there’s DAMN cold! The image at the left is off the Weather widget on my blog just a few minutes ago.

So it’s -9° out with very little wind. A buddy of mine said it was -15° this morning at 6am. Yikes! That’s cold. Last year, we had about two days all winter that were below zero and then it was just barely. This has been going on for a week. (It HAS to be global warming that’s making our temperatures so low, right? Wait a minute - warming means temperatures would be HIGHER!?!)

So Mother Nature says, “Happy Thursday!”.

I must be getting less traffic. Or maybe everyone is busy? Well, here are the answers to Friday’s Movie Qutoes:

1. Morgan Adams (Geena Davis) in “Cutthroat Island“.
2. John Winger (Bill Murray) in “Stripes“.
3. Valerie Gale (Geena Davis) in “Earth Girls Are Easy“.
4. Romona Rickettes (Susan Tyrrell) in “Cry Baby“.

Not sure why or how I got two Geena Davis quotes in there, but, oh well….

More movie quotes next week.

Movie Quotes #1

This is something I’ve been kicking around for a few months now and I thought, “I’ll start this Friday!!!”. Here’s the deal: I’ll post four quotes from movies. What you need to do is name the character, actor and movie that the quote is from. Each week I’ll put up four quotes on Friday and post the answers to them on Sunday. You may or may not be able to get answers from Google or IMDB. I won’t necessarily go for the obvious, either. Here is an example:

0. “You’re not Superman, you know”.

The answer to this would be Aunt May, played by Rosemary Harris, in Spiderman.

And now for this week’s quotes.

1. “I MUST come back here when I have more time!”
2. “I brought the magic suitcase!”
3. “If meaningless sex is what you wanted, why can’t you have it with ME?”
4. “You’re everything a young man should be: big, dumb and mean.”

Good Luck!!

Been a While

Yes, it has been a while. I’ve been working on my plugins. I started going down one path that I thought made sense. It seemed quite logical to me. However, PHP coders better than me (which really isn’t saying much in their favor) have created a the WordPress Plugin Framework. So after several days of working out an uninstallation process on my own and beginning the coding for this new process, I find a better solution for plugin creation in general. Perhaps it will all be changed in future versions of WordPress… like maybe including an “Uninstall” button on the plugins page where “Activate/Deactivate” and “Edit” buttons already exist - this would take a core edit. But until then, this framework looks to be the best avenue to pursue. Now if we can encourage the other 3,492 plugins authors to use this….

Let Me See About That

I just read a thought-provoking entry on the Weblog Tools Collection about uninstalling plugins. WordPress offers a way to “Activate” or “Deactivate” any plugins that are in the wp-plugins directory of your WordPress installation. It does not, however, offer a “Delete” or “Remove” button. Very interesting. There are database entries also that should probably be removed when you delete a plugin as well. There was one comment in particular about a plugin developer called GamerZ who includes an “Uninstall” button in the administration panel for each of his plugins. Hmmmmm. Sounds like a really good idea. Time to polish the dust off of the plugins I’ve developed and work out how to include an “Uninstall” button!

What the….??

So Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards are each raving about how good their own health care plan is and how everyone will be covered. Why should everyone be covered? The underlying question is this: since when is health care a RIGHT? We are not guaranteed health care, nor should we be. We are not guaranteed a driver’s license - it’s a privilege to have a driver’s license. Should we change that as well and guarantee everyone a driver’s license? (Don’t answer that! There’s already enough morons behind the wheel.)

The kicker is that they are all going to pay for this by “taxing the very rich”. Well, the top 5% of the wage earners in the USA pay 53.25% of the tax burden already. The top 10% of the wage earners pay 64.89% of the tax burden. And finally, the top 50% of the wage earners pay a whopping 96.03% of the tax burden. So we are going to make the folks who pay over half of the taxes already pay even more? Of course, they don’t exactly say who the “very rich” are; at one time (during the Clinton years) it was defined as any family that made over $32,500 per year.

NOOOO! Don’t vote for these people who are going to fold health care into the government! Compare it to government housing - do you know ANYONE who WANTS to live in government housing? Of course you don’t. No one does! It’s mismanaged and poorly implemented. So why do we believe that the government will do so much better in health care?
