A Tweak YOU Need

That’s right. Here’s a Windows XP tweak you need. It only works for Windows XP (sorry to all the older versions of Windows out there). It works wonders for those of us with LCD flat panel monitors.

You absolutely NEED to turn on ClearType. It’s pretty easy to do. Here’s the steps:

  • Right click on a blank place on your desktop.
  • Select “Properties”.
  • Click on the “Appearance” tab.
  • Click on the “Effects…” button.
  • In the option list where you see “Standard”, drop down the list and select “ClearType”.
  • Click “OK”
  • Click “OK”

You’ll notice a difference in the on-screen fonts immediately. They are clearer and more readable. If you can’t click on the option list mentioned above, you can directly download a tweaking tool from Microsoft that will set this up for you by clicking here. It makes the screen so much more readable and easy on the eyes. It does this by using anti-aliasing.

Oh, if you have a Mac or use Linux with either the KDE desktop or the Gnome desktop, you already have this feature enabled! Microsoft (again) is playing catch-up.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time. It's like trying to take a picture with the lens cap on.
